Apple to expand music offering

Apple’s iPod and iPhone will soon be capable of downloading music with extra features, including interactive booklets, sleeve notes and other interactive features.

Although large amounts of digital music are still being bought from the Apple site, individual tracks are still being favoured over the high-margin albums.

Apple is now working with the major record companies to launch their new music marketing strategy in September, to invigorate interest in albums by bundling liner notes and video clips with the music.

The interactive album material will include photos, lyric sheets and liner notes.
