Pakistan power prices rise by 30 percent
Karachi News.Net Sunday 31st August, 2008
The Pakistan government has given permission for Pakistan's utilities provider to increase costs by 30 per cent.
The decision has put to rest rumours that power prices would shoot up by 50-60 percent.
But the increase is said to be an unprecedented hike in power prices in the history of Pakistan.
The notification for the rise in power rates is expected to take place in a day or two.
According to The News, the Prime Minister modified the decision of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority to increase the power tariff by 50-60 per cent, and allowed the prices to go up by 31 percent only.
